About Me
My name is Diane Jourdan and for the past 18 months, my family and I have been living in Thailand on an expatriate assignment for my husband's employers, Chevron. Currently it is a three year assignment that may increase to four years.
I have been stitching off and on for 20 years. First starting off of course with the simple basic things like welcome signs and coasters, then moving up to the big pictures of Lavender and Lace and Mirabilia.
It wasn't until we moved to Texas that I got into samplers with my first samplers coming from designer Just Nan. I've stitched 13 of Nan's samplers and she's still a favorite of mine today. Whenever I need a quick success, I turn to Nan.
After living in Texas for a year, my boys got me on to the Internet, kicking and screaming I will add. Boy, what an eye opener that was! I had no idea at all that the stitching community was so large, that there was so much out there to see and buy. That there were so many others who stitched also, it was great! An obsession was born!
Seeing that many different samplers, all just one click away was unreal! To this day I continues to check my favorite sites for what's new. Can't miss out on anything. LOL.
It's also great seeing online what other stitchers have done. Show and Tell is something I truly look forward to from my online friends. Seeing completed samplers that I have in my stash or hope to add one day is really encouraging.
Right now I'm 50 years old. In June of 2007, my husband Lee and I had our 26th wedding anniversary, and we have three children:
Byron - Microsoft Guy aka MSG is 24 years old and graduated from business school at the University of Texas - Austin in May 2006. After two summer internships, he's been working for Microsoft in Seattle, WA, hence the nickname. In October 2006 he married his high school sweetheart Julie, who is a wonderful young lady. She is a nurse having graduated first in the nursing school with a 4.0 from UT-Austin. We are so very happy to welcome her to the family.
Leland II - TJ aka The Boy is my artsy-fartsy guy and is 21years old. He has an apartment in Long Beach, CA and is studying screen play and acting at UC Los Angeles. I keep telling him to think Wes Craven, but he would rather fancy himself the next Ron Howard.
Halle - HalHal is 14, lives with us here in Thailand, and is the apple of our eyes. It was great when she was little and buying all kinds of frilly things for her. She has been a hoot in our lives. Also, after having had two boys for so long, she brings a different set of challenges that both Mom and her are getting used to. Now, she's a true teenager. LOL and she thinks both of her brothers hung the moon.
Lee - Hubby is 50 also. What can I say about a man that continues to put up with me? He's a wonder and I'm so blessed to have him and my children in my life. He's very supportive of my stitching and designing. While on assignment here in Thailand, he is General Manager, Commercial and Business Development for Asia South, and is responsible for this region's commercial negotiations to develop oil and gas reserves. His group sells oil and gas into countries in this region including Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
