Section 1- The pine tree trunk is stem stitched in a brown color, there isn’t a number listed for the brown. I picked one from my stash. I didn’t use the stem stitch for the trunk, I just used regular cross stitch. Also, instead of using the numbers 7 and 6, I used the numbers 2 and 2 for 22, the number of years I’ve been married.

Section 2 – Instead of using the year 1778 and the initials Darlene shows, I used the initials of my husband and myself with the year 1981 in between them. The year 1981 being the year we got married.

For the pockets on the back, I didn’t do the first pocket as charted. After all of those queen stitches on the front side I really wasn’t up to MORE queen stitches on the back. So, I did a tumbling block quilt pattern out of Smyrna crosses. The second pocket I stitched as charted.

I also didn’t really care for Darlene’s idea of needle pages. My finisher used Doctor’s flannel that she did a decorative stitch around the edges of.

Floss amounts – The above are the amounts of floss that I used. I tried very hard to keep track of how many skeins of each color I used. I know dye lots can change so much. So, I kept this list in hopes of saving someone the trouble of hunting for the same dye lot. The amounts listed should be pretty accurate, but remember that I didn’t do the queen stitch pocket on mine, I did Smyrna crosses instead, those had to be stitched using two strands of silk floss.

I hope these notes help.
